A Vishnu lamp, also known as a Deepam or Deepa, is a traditional oil lamp used in Hindu worship, especially in rituals dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver god in the Hindu Trinity. These lamps are symbolic of divine light and are believed to dispel darkness and ignorance.
Often, a small image or embossed carving of Lord Vishnu, sometimes with his four arms holding his attributes: conch (shankha), discus (chakra), mace (gada), and lotus (padma).
You might also find carvings of Garuda (his mount), or motifs like Shankha-Chakra engraved on the body of the lamp.
